I was born in Pennsylvania, land of mountains, tall trees, and white-tailed deer. After an ideal childhood spent camping, drawing, and wearing my ponytails to the side I was off on a 7 year stint in the nation's capital. While in DC I earned a BFA at the Corcoran College of Art & Design and completed an internship in Scientific Illustration for the Paleobiology Department of the Smithsonian Institution's National Museum of Natural History. Somehow unsatisfied, I next moved to Chicago to obtain my MFA at The School of the Art Institute of Chicago. I currently remain a plains-dweller, residing in the flat lands of Chicago and dreaming of mountains.

My bookshelf has 3 sections- young adult fantasy novels (particularly those that include an orphan girl or animal on a quest), evolutionary theory, and field guides. I enjoy narrating pictures in weird voices, loose associations, and I still rock the side pony. I operate under the assumption that nature is magic, everything is connected, and climate change needs our immediate attention.

My artwork has been exhibited in numerous venues including: Exit Art, Lump Gallery, the Andy Warhol Museum, and Lollapalooza 2007 and in fine publications like ReadyMade magazine, Juxtapoz online, Amelia's magazine, and even BusinessWeek online.

One more thing! A friend and I decided to use drawing as a superpower so we founded The Endangered Species Print Project, or ESPP. 100% of the proceeds from ESPP's limited-edition art prints support the critically endangered species they depict. Editions are limited to the species' remaining population count.
